Night's Plutonian Shore-Julia Deville

I went to the opening of Julia Devilles exhibition tonight,
it was incredible.
I am a fan of taxidermy anyway, but what she has created is spectacular.
If only I could afford the kitten, or the Swan Lake, three mice who spin around in tutu's....
or the circus box with the mouse on the trapeze in a leopard print leotard.......





I bumped into Alice who worked with me years ago sewing, she had sewn all the costumes for the mice, you can see her reflection here on left of pic.

Block Arcade store

I have just discovered this blog, Heidi Kenney is a very talented and intriguing woman.
Anyone with BAKE & CAKE tattooed on their knuckles will get my attention immediately,
she makes incredible craft, the stump & mushroom in a bell jar are my favourite,
and I would definitely get my boys a hotdog each!
she bakes incessantly, and her cake creations are fantastic,
if I ever go to Chicago I will hunt her down for tea and cake.....

I have always wanted to be in Holland for Spring, to see all those bulbs flowering,
this photo just re-inforces how magnificent it would be....
this is sixty million tulips budding in early May and simply is nature at its finest.
A patchwork quilt design waiting to happen!

On my last trip to bali, I visited my friend Andrew Wellman at his house/studio,
it is a treasure trove of artwork past and present stacked up against walls and overlooking ricefields....

garden den

Anything pre-fabricated had such bad connotations for years, and suddenly they have become incredibly fabulous.
Burd Haward Architects (UK) have designed this 'garden den' for writers,
but personally I think everyone needs one,
somewhere to disappear to,
I would call mine the 'magazine den' fill it with magazines, cushions and cups of tea,
close the door and you're in your private heaven!
it is also designed so plants will grow up over the external mesh,
so it starts off looking like this...

and ends up looking like this,




they also do this zero carbon pre-fabricated luxury holiday cabin that is entirely self sufficient for remote areas...

and this outdoor classroom....

The Bell Jar

I have been keeping my eye on this new cafe,
it is on my route from home to work everyday,
it has finally opened and I managed to get there today for a coffee,
the coffee was great, it looks fantastic, there is a lovely courtyard,
and if we weren't on our way to Preston Market we would have had lunch.
It has filled the gap of that stretch from Clifton Hill shops to Fitzroy....

if you ever get the chance to see Regina Spektor play live "GO"
I saw her last night at The Palais in St KIlda Melbourne
and she was the most incredible performer I have ever seen, she sounded better live than on her albums,
man can she sing and play that grand piano.......
